Two-way cartridge valves are logic elements for the use in hydraulic control blocks, which allow a very compact design and have a high power density. These valves have two working ports (A and B) and a control port (X). The flow direction can vary from A to B or from B to A depending on the valve function. Due to the conical seat design, the valves are leakage free in port A. Optional port B can be designed leakage free as weel by using an additional seal. In order to complete the valve functionality, a control manifold and in most cases, a pilot control valve are needed. Depending on the control manifold the cartridge valves may be used as a check valve or directional control valve.
WESSEL-HYDRAULIK provides the cartridge valve series to be fit into mounting holes according to DIN 24342 and ISO 7368 as well as a proprietary standard (HYDROMENT standard). Due to the optimized installation geometry the HYDROMENT standard allows an even more compact design with similar performance.
Compared to simple two-way cartridge valves active cartridges include an additional piloting area in order to realize faster switching. Due to this piloting area the active cartridge provides direct control independently of the inlet pressure. The installation of the active cartridge is done in the same mounting hole as the standard cartridge. Only the associated manifold must be designed slightly bigger.
